“But not experienced enough yet to avoid leaving genetic prints behind her. We can get her.”
“Yes. I’ve already dispatched a team to welcome her when she’s back home,” Adrian said.
“And have a bounty placed on her head. Top the others if there’s any. To be delivered alive, of course. I want to know if she got our data or not, and whom she passed it to.”
“Are you sure this is possible? Norris got killed by one of our ICE programs. I doubt his deck could have sustained the shock better than him.”
“One never knows, Adrian. Didn’t you learn that during your training camps? In a job like ours, one never knows. Send these Agents, and bring me more results tonight, will you?”
As if suddenly remembering them, Deanna looked at the rest of the data chips on her desk, and waved her hand. Eberson understood the dismissal signal, and gave a short nod as only goodbye before leaving the office. Both of them did not need more words to be able to go back to their respective duties.
On the MNN channel, a special news flash was now announcing the official closing of all domes, tunnels and airlocks, as ordered by the Mayor herself to try to limit the spread of what the media had already started to call an epidemics of the Red.
Whatever came out of Jen McAran’s arrest, Deanna’s real worry focused on the team of Mavericks who had performed Kobayashi’s extraction, on the one that had survived, and on the possible leak within the Corporation.
It demanded a keen knowledge of the Townsend’s systems and procedures to get control of a part of their security network in such little time, and Security Chief Shaw intended on discovering who was behind all of this as quickly as possible.
